Shoes that prevent Back Pain

The causes of back pain are many and varied and range from disease, through trauma to the footwear we chose. Are there then shoes that prevent back pain?

Nearly everyone I know is suffering with, or has suffered from back pain. A figure of 80% has been quoted as the percentage of back suffers in the developed world

The fact that this high number is in the developed world should ring an alarm bell, why do people who live less “civilised” lives have less back pain? In the world where we live, however, most of us   will experience back pain at some point over the course of our lives. In fact, back pain is the number one problem facing the United States workforce today, resulting in missed work days, decreased company productivity levels and, of course, uncomfortable, wrenching pain for the sufferer.

Various reports today point to low back pain as the leading cause of disability between the ages of 19-45, and the number one leading impairment in occupational injuries.

So back pain is a serious problem, but what are its causes and how may they be addressed.

Causes:

To stay erect the body needs sound support to maintain its weight and perform normal activities. If this support structure, the spine, is weakened, the muscles must work harder to keep the feet, knees, hips and back in alignment.

Sometimes the effects are immediate, but in many cases, back problems develop over time, so it’s important to take measures to aid lower back support. Everything in the body, however, relies on the feet. You walk on them, you stand on them, and all the bodies’ bones are connected to them. So unless you walk barefoot, the footwear you chose is vital to the well being of the structure of your body.

Answer:

As mentioned briefly, if we wear no shoes and allow our feet walk naturally then we receive certain benefits. The dew in the morning on our feet, air keeping them cool and the ability to allow the bones, ligaments and muscles to work naturally. However in our world and certainly in the workplace and during bad weather, we wear shoes. The choice is ours however to wear tight, binding and distorting shoes or to wear footwear that gives our feet maximum freedom of movement. We can look good and be kind to our bodies at the same time. There are so many causes of back pain today, why deliberately add any more?
